I actually got home only a few hours ago, after spending Saturday on way to airport/ in airport/ on airplane/ in another airport/ driving, and finally staying with my (awesome) grandparents before more driving and HOME.
Where was I? Sewanee, Tennessee.
When I told people I was in Sewanee, the common response was, "Where?" The answer: a small liberal arts college in TN, the University of the South. I stayed on campus for two weeks for the Sewanee Young Writer's Conference. Which was awesome. And fantastic. And two weeks really wasn't long enough.
The workshops were interesting, the friends I made fantastic (hey y'all), and the campus gorgeous. I also had the opportunity to meet authors such as Kevin Wilson and Nick Flynn. (By the way, Nick Flynn's memoir is being made into a movie to be released in 2012.) (How cool is that?) (Robert De Niro is in it.) (And the brother from Little Miss Sunshine.)
Two weeks surrounded by writers and focused on writing make for lots of motivation to pile on more writing the rest of the summer.
Don't forget, if you're in State College, PA on July 16th, stop by BookfestPA!
